A look at some of the principles of critical thinking.

Conformity - behaving in accordance with real or imagined social norms, rules and expectations. Studies, observations, invitation.

The Story of Stuff. From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever. http://storyofstuff.org

Work Sucks! Much of this was inspired by Bob Black's, The Abolition of Work. You can read it at: http://www.zpub.com/notes/black-work.... Better yet, you can listen to it at: http://www.audioanarchy.org/antiwork.... Also, check out some of the other anti-work essays on the list. They are all pretty good. I actually downloaded them, burned them as a MP3 and listened to them while driving to work. Ironic, eh?

This lively RSA Animate, adapted from Dan Pink's talk at the RSA, illustrates the hidden truths behind what really motivates us at home and in the workplace.

Why Propaganda Works? Noam Chomsky talks about propaganda, and reasons why he feels it is so successfull. Taken from "Manufacturing Consent - Noam Chomsky and The Media".

Role of the Educational System. Noam Chomsky is an Institute Professor and professor emeritus of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The goal of education, Chomsky argues, is to produce free human beings whose values are not accumulation and domination, but rather free association on terms of equality.

Capitalism & Other Kids' Stuff. It was made by four socialists on one freezing Saturday afternoon in a church hall at Hebburn in the north east of England. On a budget of £80 which was spent on travel expenses the cost of hiring the hall and some cold cheese pasties the film may be rough and ready but it's hoped that it says something real to you. The ideas it proposes are one's you're unlikely to see on any TV show, art house play or even the news networks.

Future by Design shares the life and far-reaching vision of Jacque Fresco, considered by many to be a modern day Da Vinci. Peer to Einstein and Buckminster Fuller, Jacque is a self-taught futurist who describes himself most often as a "generalist" or multi-disciplinarian -- a student of many inter-related fields. He is a prolific inventor, having spent his entire life (he is now 90 years old) conceiving of and devising inventions on various scales which entail the use of innovative technology. As a futurist, Jacque is not only a conceptualist and a theoretician, but he is also an engineer and a designer.

Amazing speech by war veteran Mike Prysner. Our real enemies are not those living in a distant land whose names or policies we don't understand; The real enemy is a system that wages war when it's profitable, the CEOs who lay us off our jobs when it's profitable, the Insurance Companies who deny us Health care when it's profitable, the Banks who take away our homes when it's profitable. Our enemies are not several hundred thousands away. They are right here in front of us.

Al Bartlett's Arithmetic, Population, and Energy. May sound little boring but if you follow along with what the presenter (a professor emeritus of Physics at Univ of Colorado-Boulder) is saying, it's quite easy to pay attention, because it is so compelling.
